Track and Field Opens 2000 Indoor Season at Ohio State Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team opened the 2000 indoor season today hosting the Ohio State Invitational in the French Field House. The Buckeyes started their season off strong by capturing 19 first-place finishes and 13 second-place finishes.
%^$Leading the women were Dominque Calloway winning the 200-meter run (24.42) and the 60-meter low hurdles (8.35). Donica Merriman won the 60-meter dash (7.57) and placed second behind Calloway in the 200 (25.08) and 60 hurdles (8.63). Cathy Carlin posted victories in the high jump (5’5 3/4') and triple jump (34’4 3/4).
%^$The men were led by Andrew Pierce, who captured victories in the 400 (47.44) and the 200 (21.89). The men seized first and second finishes in the 400, 60 high hurdles and the 3,000. %^$ %^$The Buckeyes travel to New York where they will face some of the top teams in the nation at the New York Invitational next saturday. Their next home meet is against Indiana and West Carolina on Jan. 22 at the French Field House. %^$
