Men’s Gymnasts To Compete at United States Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State men’s gymnastics team members Jamie Natalie (Jr., Hockessin, Del.), a 1998-99 U.S. National Team member, and All-American Jay Nardelli (Jr., Centerville, Va.) will participate in the 1999 John Hancock U.S. Gymnastics Championships Aug. 26-28 in Sacramento, Calif. The U.S. National Team for 1999-00 will be chosen from the 30 gymnasts competing at the meet.
Three-time defending meet champion and former Buckeye Blaine Wilson (Columbus, Ohio), will defend his title at the Championships. All-American Doug Stibel (Canton, Mich.), who completed his eligibility at Ohio State last season, also will participate.
The top 14 gymnasts from the U.S. Championships will comprise the U.S. National Team that will compete in the World Team Trials, Sept. 15-18, in Kansas City, Mo. From there, the top six performers will represent the U.S. at the World Championships, Oct. 8-16, in Tiajnin, China. The U.S. team has to finish 12th or better at that event in order to qualify for the Olympic Games.
