Minnesota Widens Gap at NCAA Central Regionals%^$
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Minnesota mens golf team increased its%^$lead from five to seven strokes after the second day of competition today%^$by firing a five-over-par 293 at Ohio States par-72, 7,109-yard Scarlet%^$Course. The Golden Gophers maintained their first-round lead at the NCAA%^$Central Regional even though none of their golfers improved their scores%^$from the first round.%^$
%^$ Defending national champion James McLean lead the Gophers with a even%^$par 72, and is tied for the individual lead with David Suggs of Missouri%^$at 141. Minnesotas Martin LeMesurier is tied with Daniel Fox of%^$Arkansas-Little Rock and Kents Ben Curtis in third place, one stroke%^$back at 142. Suggs and Fox are competing as individuals in the%^$tournament. %^$
%^$Trailing Minnesota by seven strokes is second-place Northwestern, which%^$shot a 295 for the day. Toledo maintained third place but is tied with%^$Kent, which moved up from sixth place after shooting a 294.%^$
%^$The field enjoyed a beautiful day in Columbus with clear skies and%^$temperatures in the high-80s, but battled firm greens en route to%^$generally higher scores across the board.

%^$ .The top 10 teams and two individuals in the tournament will advance to%^$the NCAA Championships, scheduled for June 2-5 at the Hazeltine National%^$Golf Club in Chaska, Minn.
