Women’s Laxers Slip By Duquesne – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team defeated the Duquesne Dukes Tuesday afternoon, 13-12. Ohio State’s record moves to 6-4 while the Dukes fall to 7-2.
%^$The Dukes took an early 3-0 lead but could not hold on. Ohio State took a 8-5 lead into the lockeroom at half-time and never looked back.
%^$Megan Mirick (Fr., Burke, Va.) led the Buckeyes with six goals. Mirick’s six goals marks the highest single-game goal total of the 1999 season and ties the Ohio State record for goals in a game. Senior Mara Simpson also holds the record for goals in a game, that game also was against Duquesne on Apr. 9, 1997. Erin Andersen (So., Huntington, N.Y.) and Lauren Cochran(Fr., Coatesville, Pa.) also contributed to the offense by adding three and two goals, respectively.
%^$Jessica McGarry led the Dukes’ offense with three goals and one assist.
%^$Ohio State will play next on Saturday, April 10 against the Ohio University Bobcats. The game will be played on the practice field located on the west side of Fred Taylor Drive across from the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility.
