Women’s Laxers Hit the Road – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – Columbus – The Ohio State womens lacrosse team travels to Maryland and Pennsylvania. The Buckeyes will play Mt. St. Marys on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Md.and then play Boston University on Sunday at 1 p.m in Boyertown, Penn.
%^$BUCKEYES SURVIVE OVERTIME
%^$The Buckeyes survived last weekends overtime game against Davidson. After Davidson scored the first goal, the Buckeyes quickly responded by scoring the next five goals. Ohio State took the lead for good on a Megan Mirick goal with 1:04 left in the first overtime. The Buckeyes won 10-9. The Buckeyes now have an overall record of 2-2.
%^$SCOUTING MT. ST. MARYS
%^$Mt. St. Marys enters Saturdays game with an overall record of 2-2. One of Mt. St. Marys losses came at the hands of Davidson, Ohio States last opponent. The Mt. St. Marys attack is led by Ashley Rusk who has 10 goals through four games. Colleen Curran has also had a big effect on the offense by scoring seven goals. Time in the goal is split between Candace Gryken and Kathryn Harrington.

%^$The Buckeyes and Mt. St. Marys have played once, during the 1996 season. The Buckeyes lead the series 1-0. Ohio State defeated Mt. St. Marys 7-6 in Emmitsburg, Md.
%^$SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY
%^$Boston University is 2-0 with victories over Temple and UMASS. The BU attack is led by Chrissy Lombard who has netted five goals. The Terriers have outscored their opponents 10-3 in the first half so far this season. In goal for the Terriers is Brooke Barrett who has 14 saves and a .539 save percentage.

%^$This weekends game marks the first time Boston and Ohio State have played. Both programs started four seasons ago.
%^$COACH STIMMEL RETURNS HOME
%^$Sue Stimmel will return to her hometown of Boyertown, Penn. for this weekends game against Boston.
%^$BUCKEYE LEADERS
%^$Ohio State has scored 43 goals in its first four games. Celeste Cianfrani and Megan Mirick lead the Buckeye scoring with nine goals each. Erin Andersen has also contributed to the offense with six goals.
%^$HEAD COACH SUE STIMMEL
%^$Sue Stimmel, a native of Boyertown, Pa., is entering her fourth season as head womens lacrosse coach at Ohio State. She has compiled a 18-23 mark at OSU thus far, and is the only head coach in the brief history of the varsity womens lacrosse program. Last season, against the toughest schedule ever assembled for an Ohio State womens lacrosse team, the Buckeyes were extremely competitive in every game and lost four games by a total of nine goals. Stimmel came to Ohio State from Denison University where she guided the Big Red to a 76-24 record during her career. While at Denison, she was named NCAC Coach of the Year in 1990, 1992 and 1993. Denison won five NCAC championships and made five appearences in the NCAA tournament during Stimmels tenure. Stimmel is a 1984 graduate of Temple University, where she received a degree in mathematics. She was a four-year varsity starter and a member of Temples national championship teams in 1982 and 1984.
