Stibel Named Big TenGymnast of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State men’s gymnast Doug Stibel (Sr., Canton, Mich.) has been named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week after an impressive weekend of competition. In Ann Arbor last weekend, the #4 Buckeyes trailed host #2 Michigan by mere tenths of a point heading into the final rotation. Stibel scored a 9.800 on the vault, propelling Ohio State to a 228.325-227.550 win over Michigan, while #7 Illinois was a distant third (222.950). He went on to win the all-around for the second consecutive week of competiton with a score of 57.125, establishing a season-best mark.
The Buckeyes (8-1/7-1 Big Ten) travel to Minnesota for a meet on Feb. 6 at 1 p.m.
