Former Men’s Swimmer Captures Two Silver Medals at the World Cup – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio Former Ohio State swimmer Marko Strahija (Zagreb, Croatia) notched two silver medals at the 1999 World Cup in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. Strahija placed second in both the 100 and 200-meter backstroke with times of 54:28 and 1:56.39.%^$
%^$The World Cup competition was the last meet for Strahija during the 1999 season. He will now be training for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, where he will compete for his home country, Croatia. He qualified for the Olympics last August after placing second in the 200 backstroke at the Croatia Nationals.%^$
%^$As a four-time letterwinner at Ohio State, Strahija (1995-98) earned academic All-American, academic all-Big-Ten and OSU Scholar-Athlete honors. He also was named honorable-mention All-American and captured the Big Ten Medal of Honor his senior year. %^$
