Women’s Lacrosse drops 16-13 decision at American – Ohio State Buckeyes

Washington, D.C. – The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team lost to American 16-13 in their last game of the season.
The Buckeyes struck first as Celeste Cianfrani (Fr., Telford, Pa.) scored one of her four goals at 20:28 to give Ohio State the early lead. The Buckeyes had a one goal lead at the end of the first half. In the second half the Eagles went on a scoring blitz netting eleven goals in the second half to defeat the Buckeyes. American was led by Ashley Flannigan and Brooke Morgan who scored five goals each. Miranda James (So., Bel Air, Md.) scored three goals, two of which came in the second half. Lorena Opitz (Sr., Worthington, Ohio) and Gillan Grim (So., Shaker Heights, Ohio) tallied two goals each. The Buckeyes received excellent goalie play from Jamie Bauer (Sr., Powell, Ohio) who had twenty-five saves.
Ohio State completes its 1998 season 6-9 overall.
