Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State Women’s Crew team hosted it’s only home Regatta of the 1998 season against Michigan State and Iowa at Griggs Reservoir.
The Varsity 8 race had to be restarted as the Ohio State and Michigan State boats collided at the beginning of the race. At the second start the Spartans got the earlier lead and maintained it throughout the race. The Buckeyes made a run towards the end of the race but it wasn’t enough to win. The 2nd varsity 8 was the most exciting race of the day. Michigan State was ahead most of the race and at one point they were ahead by a boat length. The Buckeyes pulled out by a seat in the last 500 yards to win the race. The 3rd novice and the 2nd novice also took first place today.
Up next for the Buckeyes is the Mid-West Championships at Madison, Wisconsin.
