Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No.1 North Carolina – Ohio State Buckeyes

BALTIMORE – North Carolina’s top-ranked women’s lacrosse team employed a balanced scoring attack Friday night to defeat Ohio State 15-5 in women’s college lacrosse action at Homewood Field on the Johns Hopkins University campus in Baltimore, Md.
Coach Jenny Slingluff’s team improved to 5-0 on the season behind three goals and one assist by junior attacker Erin McGinnis and one goal and two assists by senior attacker Lori Pasquantonio. Eleven different Tar Heels scored goals in the game as Carolina outshot Ohio State 30-18.
The Tar Heels led 7-2 at the half and extended their lead with an 8-3 scoring blitz in the second half. The Buckeyes fell to 1-2 on the season. A pair of Buckeyes scored two goals for OSU but it wasn’t enough to offset the balanced effort of UNC.
The Tar Heels will now play at George Mason on Sunday, March 22, 1998 at 1 p.m. against the 1-2 Patriots.
