Women’s Volleyball Edged by #14 Michigan State – Ohio State Buckeyes

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Ohio State (14-13 overall, 7-11 Big Ten) came up short dropping a 12-15, 12-15, 13-15 decision to 14th-ranked Michigan State (22-5, 14-4) in a live ESPN2 telecast. Angelee Abbring scored a team high 17 kills with Rosie Snow adding 11, but the Buckeyes could not overcome a match-high 21 kill performance by MSU’s Jenna Wrobel.
The Spartans hit .214 for the match to OSU’s .118. Michigan State held the edge in blocks, 13 to 10 with Sarah Gustin picking up a match high eight blocks (1-7) and Wrobel adding six (2-4). OSU’s Dana Stearns and Abbring had four assists each for the Buckeyes. OSU edged the Spartans in digs, 59 to 54 with three Buckeyes, Brianne Spiers (10), Annie Botica (10) and Stearns (11) reaching double figures. MSU’s Wrobel had a team high 10 digs.
Ohio State concludes the regular season with home matches next weekend when they face Indiana on Friday night and Northwestern Saturday. Both match will be played in St. John Arena, starting at 7 p.m.
