Volleyball falls to #6 Wisconsin 3-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – 20th ranked Ohio State ( 8-6 overall, 1-4 Big Ten) lost 15-3, 15-10, 15-10 to 20th ranked Wisconsin (15-1, 5-0) in St. John Arena Friday evening. The Buckeye loss extended Wisconsin’s winning streak to 15. Rosie Snow (19) and Dana Stearns (14) combined for 33 kills for OSU, but Wisconsin’s Keylee Wright (16), Kate Fitzgerald (15), Sherisa Livingston (11) combined for 42 kills to lead the Badgers to victory.
Wisconsin made quick work of game one taking 6-1, 11-2 and 12-3 leads before closing the game at 15-3. OSU suffered 10 unforced hitting errors for points in the game and hit .047 to Wisconsin’s .382.
The Buckeyes opened a 3-0 lead in game two but Wisconsin quickly went up 5-3. The game was tied at five, six, seven and nine before Keylee Wright’s kill put Wisconsin up 10-9. The Badgers extended the lead to 12-9. A Badger hitting error closed the gap to 12-10, but Wisconsin closed the match on two OSU errors and a kill by Marisa Mackey to win 15-10. The Badgers hit 341 for the game to .286 for OSU.
Wisconsin led 6-0 in game three and trailed 10-7 before two kills by Dana Stearns and one by Rosie Snow tied the game at 10. Wisconsin scored the next five points on aces by Colleen Neels and Wright, a solo block and a kill by Sherisa Livingston and an OSU error to win 15-10. The Badgers hit .419 for the game to .288 for the Buckeyes.
For the match, Wisconsin hit .381 to .212 for OSU. The Badgers held an edge in digs, 37-35, blocks nine to seven and aces, five to three.
Ohio State hosts Iowa (6-8, 0-5) a 3-0 loser to No. 2 Penn State (15-0, 5-0) Saturday evening at 7 p.m. in St. John Arena.
