PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Ohio State crew team’s Varsity 8 boat took fourth place at the Head of Ohio regatta last Saturday. The Buckeyes finished at 13:13 in the women’s open 8, 13 seconds behind champion Virginia. The Junior Varsity 8 boat finished with a time of 13:32 to finish ninth. Coach Andy Teitelbaum was pleased with Ohio State’s showing at the regatta.
“Being so close to the Virginia boats demonstrates that we’re right in the ballgame,” Teitelbaum said. “We’re clearly good and we’re going to get even better.”
The Head of Ohio was sponsored by the Three Rivers Rowing Association and benefited the Mercy Burn Center.
Next for the Buckeyes is the Head of Charles in Boston, Mass. The Oct. 17 event is the largest single-day regatta in the world, with university and national teams from around the world in competition.
