COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team starts the final stretch before postseason play this weekend when it heads to Nashville, Tenn., to participate in the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. The 54-hole event runs Friday-Sunday and live scoring can be found on Golfstat.com.
- Ohio State’s lineup this week will be the same as earlier this week at the Valspar with Maxwell Modovan, Adam Wallin, Jackson Chandler, JonErik Alford and Marco Steyn. Patrick Schmucking joins the group this weekend as an individual.
- This will be the final road event of the regular season for the Buckeyes who will return home to host the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on April 23-24 before embarking on postseason play.
- Ohio State has finished in the Top 6 at each of its last of last five events and has been under-par in the last three tournaments.
- The Buckeyes won the Southern Invitational and have had three medalists this spring.
- Maxwell Moldovan won the NEXUS Collegiate and the Southern Invitational for the first two wins of his career. He leads the team with a 70.76 scoring average and has carded a round at par or better in each of his last seven rounds.
- Adam Wallin won the Colleton River Collegiate for his first victory as a Buckeye. He is just behind Moldovan in scoring at 71.12 and he has finished in the Top 20 at all six of his events this year.
- Both Moldovan and Wallin have carded nine rounds in the 60s this season and both finished in the Top 20 in a loaded field at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational earlier this week.
- Marco Steyn is third on the team in scoring at 73.45. He opened the Valspar with a tough round of 77 but rebounded to post a pair of under-par rounds to finish the event.
- JonErik Alford has carded a round in the 60s in four of his last seven rounds. He is coming off a 4-under 67 in the final round of the Valspar Collegiate, which marked his lowest round as a Buckeye.
- Jackson Chandler rebounded from a tough tournament at the NEXUS Collegiate and has carded a round of par or better in four of his last six rounds. He notched his second Top 10 finish of the season with a seventh place showing at the Southern Invitational.
- Patrick Schmucking is averaging 74.38 but has carded just one round higher than 75 in his last two events.
- There is very little chance of rain this weekend in Nashville and temperatures will be around 60 for the first two rounds and climb up near 70 for Sunday’s final round.
