Late Goal Lifts Wildcats to 1-0 Win Over Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (4-5-1, 0-2-0 in the Big Ten) attacked for the better part of 90 minutes Sunday but Northwestern (4-5-2. 1-3-0) earned the 1-0 win over the Buckeyes in Evanston.

How it Happened

The teams were scoreless after 45 minutes. Ohio State was the more aggressive squad with six shots, two on net. Buckeye keeper Keagan McLaughlin faced just one Wildcat attempts in the opening half making the stop.

The Buckeyes continued to be the aggressor, finishing the game with an 18-6 edge on shots, in the second half. The Buckeyes also had the advantage in shots on goal (6-4) and corners (8-7).

  • Ohio State has been involved in eight games decided by one goal in addition to a double overtime 1-all draw vs. Creighton and a 2-0 win over Cleveland State.
  • McLaughlin finished the game with three saves on six Northwestern shots.
