COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three members of the Ohio State men’s golf team have been named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team – graduates Felix Kvarnstrom and Elis Svard as well as freshman Maxwell Moldovan.
Kvarnstrom transferred from Lynn University prior to last season and played in all eight events for the Buckeyes last year, leading the team with a 72.94 scoring average. He posted four top-20 finishes with three top-10s and all 18 of his rounds counted towards the team score.
Svard played the last four seasons at DII Cal State Monterey Bay where he was a three-time All-American. He earned first team PING All-American honors in 2020 and was one of five finalists for the DII Jack Nicklaus Award. Svard broke the CSUMB single-season scoring record in 2019-20 with a 71.18 average.
Moldovan comes in as one of the top recruits in program history. He was a 2019 First-time Rolex Junior All-American and the AJGA Player of the Year, the first male ever from the Midwest to earn the award. He won three AJGA events and collected six top-10 national junior golf finishes in 2019. Moldovan was ranked as high as No. 33 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
The Buckeyes will open the 2021 season on Feb. 5-6 at the Big Ten Match Play Championship at Hammock Beach in Palm Beach, Fla.
