
Halliday Selected Big Ten Second Star of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After recording four points in a Big Ten sweep of Wisconsin, Stephen Halliday of the No. 11-ranked Ohio State men’s hockey team has been named Big Ten Second Star of the Week.
Halliday, from Glenwood, Md., and an Ottawa Senators prospect, had a goal and three assists, as well as nine shots on goal, as the Buckeyes posted 3-1 and 4-3 victories over the Badgers. In game one, he converted on the power play for his first collegiate goal, giving the Buckeyes a two-goal cushion in the third period. In game two, a 4-3 comeback win after trailing 3-0 in the second period, Halliday had three assists, including on the tying and go-ahead goals in the third period. He had the first assist on the power play goal in the second that put Ohio State on the board, assisted on the power play tally at 11:52 of the third that tied the game and then had the first assist on Cole McWard’s go-ahead goal, the eventual gamewinner, at 15:22 of the third.
The rookie is tied for first on the team with four assists this season and ranks second with five points. He has a point in each of the last three games.
This week, Ohio State (4-0-0) travels for a two-game series at No. 17 UConn (4-0-0). The teams will meet at 7:05 p.m. Friday and 4:05 p.m. Saturday in the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., with the games streamed through ESPN+.
After the series with the Huskies, Ohio State will return to Columbus for four games in a row, hosting Bentley Oct. 20-21 and Minnesota Oct. 28-29 in Value City Arena.
