COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following a three-goal weekend against St. Thomas, Ohio State women’s hockey freshman Emma Peschel has earned Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday.
Peschel’s three goals last weekend were the first of her career. She tallied her first career goal in the Buckeyes’ first game of the series against the Tommies on Saturday. She was the first to light the lamp in the game, which Ohio State won, 4-0.
On Sunday, the Edina, Minn. native recorded her first multi-goal game of her career with two goals in the Buckeyes’ 6-0 shutout of St. Thomas. She tallied the Buckeyes’ second and fifth goals of the game.
Overall, Peschel paced the team with three goals in the series and tied for a team-high three points. The defenseman added two blocked shots and helped the team hold St. Thomas to just 25 shots on the weekend. She earned a plus-four on-ice rating.
The Buckeyes are back in action Nov. 18-19 against Bemidji State following a bye this weekend. The teams faceoff at 6 p.m. ET Friday and 3 p.m. ET Saturday from the OSU Ice Rink.
