Buckeyes Welcome RMU for Season Opener

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team opens the regular season with a game against Robert Morris at 3:30 p.m. Saturday inside Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Admission is free to all Buckeye women’s lacrosse regular season home games. University and City of Columbus policies are to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
The game will be streamed through the Big Ten Plus subscription service and live stats will be available.
Buckeyes vs. Colonials
- Ohio State is 6-0 all-time vs. Robert Morris. The teams last met Feb. 9, 2020, a 13-8 Buckeye win in Columbus.
- Five of the six games between the teams have been in Columbus (2006, ’08, ’12, 18, ’20), along with a 2007 game in Moon Township, Pa.
- The Colonials won the MAC championship last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. The squad was 14-3 a season ago.
Buckeye This and That
- The Buckeyes return four of their Top 5 point scorers from last season, including Nicole Ferrara, who was second with 25 goals and 33 points in 2021. Lindsay Epstein was third last year with 16 goals and 22 points and Ashley Turner was first with nine assists and fourth with 21 points. Jamie Level also had double digit goals (10) in 2021 and was fifth in points (13).
- Entering the 2022 campaign, Sophie Baez leads the current Buckeyes in career goals (50), assists (24) and points (74). Jamie Level is second with 45 goals, 17 assists and 62 points in her collegiate career. Nicole Ferrara has notched 38 goals, 14 assists and 52 points through her first two years in the Scarlet and Gray and Epstein has also hit the 50-point mark for her career (39g, 12a, 51p).
- Riley Ewing has 117 draw controls as a Buckeye, ranking sixth in Ohio State history. Chloë Johnson has 85 draw controls at Ohio State to rank 10th in program history.
- The game against Robert Morris is the first non-Big Ten team Ohio State is facing since a game vs. Towson in March 2020 prior to the remainder of that season being canceled. Ohio State played only conference teams in 2021.
- Buckeye midfielder Lindsay Epstein, attack Nicole Ferrara and midfielder Chloë Johnson were recognized as Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch.
- Five Buckeyes are serving as captains this year. Epstein is a team captain for the third time and is joined by Sophie Baez, Cai Martin, Maura McGregor and Ferrara.
- Four Buckeyes returned to the program for a fifth year and are working toward graduate degrees. The group includes Baez (sport management), Ali Beekhuizen (sport management), Epstein (sport management) and Riley Ewing (applied economics).
- The Buckeyes’ game at Louisville March 31 will be televised by ACC Network and the game at Johns Hopkins April 23 will be on ESPNU. Both games will be available through the ESPN app for fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider. BTN has not yet announced its television schedule. Ohio State regular season home games not televised will be streamed through the Big Ten Plus subscription service.
The Schedule Ahead
Ohio State will hit the road for its first away game of the season, taking on Cincinnati at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Buckeyes will then return home to host Marquette inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center at noon Feb. 20.
