LEBANON, Ill. – The No. 14 Ohio State men’s volleyball team (2-5, 1-2 MIVA) dropped a 3-1 decision (22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-15) on the road to McKendree (4-0, 3-0 MIVA) on Friday night.
Three Buckeyes scored double figures in kills, led by Jacob Pasteur with 18, who also had a team-high six digs and three aces. Sotiris Siapanis made his Ohio State debut with 11 kills and Jack Stevens added 12 kills to the mix. Michael Wright recorded 47 assists while Samuel Clark connected on seven of his 11 swings with just one miscue for a .545 hitting clip. Five players also had three blocks apiece.
SET 1: The Buckeyes took an early 7-4 lead before McKendree made up the difference to tie the score at 11-all. The teams traded points until OSU pulled away, 25-22.
SET 2: Ohio State had control for much of the frame until the Bearcats locked things up at 23-23. The set would end in McKendree’s favor, 26-24.
SET 3: The Bearcats doubled up on the Buckeyes, 14-7. Ohio State tried to rally but fell 25-18.
SET 4: McKendree controlled the set as it cruised to a 25-15 win.
Ohio State and McKendree will meet again at 8 p.m. ET Friday.
