COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13 Ohio State men’s volleyball team (1-2) dropped a straight-set decision (25-16, 25-17, 25-21) to No. 11 Penn State (2-1) on Friday night at Rec Hall.
Jacob Pasteur once again led the Buckeyes on offense, this time with a career-high 13 kills. Martin Lallemand added seven kills and three digs while Robbie Murphy and Samuel Clark had three kills apiece. Luke Lentin dished 26 assists, dug four balls and served one ace.
SET 1: Ohio State needed a timeout as Penn State went up 17-13. Out of the break, the Nittany Lions used an 8-3 run to cap off the set, 25-16.
SET 2: Penn State jumped out to an early 12-7 lead. The Buckeyes tried to fight their way back but it wasn’t enough as they fell 25-17.
SET 3: The Buckeyes erased a four-point deficit to tie the frame at 14-all. Ohio State took a slight 20-18 edge before a 7-1 sprint gave the Nittany Lions a 25-21 victory.
Ohio State plays its final non-conference match of the season against Penn State on Saturday at 7 p.m.
