Buckeyes Card Their Lowest Round of the Championship on Sunday



SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Ohio State carded its lowest round of the NCAA Championship, a 293, in breezy, firm conditions on Sunday afternoon at the Grayhawk Golf Club. Despite the round, the Buckeyes did not make the 54-hole cut and their tournament run is over.

The Buckeyes shot rounds of 300-300-293 and finished in 23rd place. The scoring average over the first three rounds was north of 74 on the long par-70 layout. Ohio State played two of its three rounds in the afternoon in which the course much more difficult with the wind and hardening greens.

Adam Wallin was the low Buckeye finisher as he carded a third round 73 and finished in a tie for 55th at 10-over par. Maxwell Moldovan was a shot behind Wallin at 11-over for the week. He was even-par through 14 holes on Sunday but had a tough finish for a 74.

Patrick Schmucking posted the lowest OSU round on Sunday with a 2-over 72. Like Wallin, he started strong with one birdie and 10 pars through the first 11 holes. The wind picked up on the back nine and he finished up with his lowest round of the week.

Jackson Chandler also had his lowest round of the tournament on Sunday with a 4-over 74. He improved by a shot each round, carding rounds of 76-75-74. JonErik Alford closed with a round of 79 on Sunday.

The Buckeyes had a great spring, winning the Southern Collegiate and advancing to the NCAA Championship for the 47th time in program history. They finished under-par in six events and posted eight Top 6 finishes this spring.
