COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team begins the final push of the regular season this weekend at the 17th annual Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. There are two events this weekend, a team event on the Kampen Course and then an individual event on the Ackerman-Allen Course. Both tournaments will be 54 holes events with 36 holes scheduled for Saturday and 18 holes scheduled for Sunday.
- Ohio State’s lineup for the team tournament this week will Maxwell Moldovan, Felix Kvarnstrom, Adam Wallin, Elis Svard and Jackson Chandler.
- Kevin Stone, Grant Engle and Caleb Davern will be competing in the individual tournament.
- This will be the first of four consecutive weeks of competition to finish the regular season. Next weekend the team will be in Arizona for the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, followed by hosting the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on April 24-25 and then then Big Ten Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club on April 30-May 2.
- Max Moldovan has opened his collegiate career with three Top 10 finishes. He was fourth at the Kiawah Invitational, sixth at the Spartan Collegiate and a runner-up finish in one of the best fields this season at the Valspar Collegiate
- Moldovan has yet to card an over-par round through his first nine rounds and leads the team with a 69.11 scoring average. Six of his nine rounds have been in the 60s.
- Felix Kvarnstrom has been in the Top 25 in all three events and is coming off an 11th place showing at Valspar. He is second on the team with a 71.00 scoring average.
- For Davern and Stone, this will be their first collegiate events of 2021. Engle played as an individual at the Kiawah Invitational, finishing at 6-over par.
- The Buckeyes have finished under-par in each of their first three stroke play events and are coming off a third-place finish at the loaded Valspar Collegiate. They only teams they lost two at the Valspar were No. 2 Florida State and No. 5 Wake Forest.
- This is the first time since 2003-04 that has finished under-par in three consecutive events.
- The weather does not look good this weekend. A 90 percent chance of rain on Saturday and an 80 percent chance of rain on Sunday is what’s in the forecast.
