MINNEAPOLIS – The Big Ten Conference hosted the 2022 men’s and women’s basketball media days in Minneapolis at the Target Center, home to the Minnesota Lynx and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 2023 women’s basketball conference tournament will take place at the Target Center.
Head Coach Kevin McGuff and senior guards Taylor Mikesell and Jacy Sheldon represented the Buckeyes at media day on the women’s side as half of the conference’s schools were featured on Tuesday and the other half on Wednesday.
Each head coach on the women’s and men’s sides held a press conference with the entire group of media present. The head coaches and student-athletes also participated in interviews with Big Ten social/digital media, ESPN, NCAA.com, Sirius XM and live from the BTN studio. New this year was a 360-photo booth with memorabilia from all Big Ten schools in addition to ESPN and Big Ten photo opportunities.
“Last year we had a great chemistry and I think it was built throughout the year,” Mikesell said. “It’s going to be something we build over time even though we already have that great chemistry. We’re starting in a good spot. Obviously, that will be built through adversity and tough times, but I’m excited for the season. I think we have a lot of good relationships already on the team and we’ll be able to build on that.”
“The Big Ten is a really great conference,” Sheldon said. “There are a lot of great teams, but I think what’s makes us a little different, a little special, is that we have a lot of guards who can do a lot of different things and are very versatile. I think every player on our roster can shoot it a little bit. We have a great connection between our guards and definitely have a four-guard look – no secret there. That works in our benefit, especially with the pace we want to play at.”
The Buckeyes host Notre Dame College for an exhibition on Halloween before opening the regular season at home against Tennessee on Nov. 8 at 8:30 p.m. in a game broadcast on BTN. View the full 2022-23 schedule HERE.
