Treloar and Dobeš Recognized by Big Ten

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After helping lead the No. 14 Ohio State men’s hockey team to a road sweep of Mercyhurst to open the season, Buckeyes Travis Treloar and Jakub Dobeš earned weekly honors from the Big Ten Conference. Treloar, who had a team-best three assists and four points, was named Big Ten Second Star of the Week and Dobes, who was 2-0-0 with a 1.51 goals-against average and .935 save percentage, received Big Ten Third Star of the Week accolades.

Treloar, a junior from Kalmar, Sweden, is now a two-time league weekly honoree, first earning the honor Dec. 1, 2020. Dobes, a sophomore from Ostrava, Czechia, was a four-time selection last season en route to Big Ten Goaltender of the Year and co-Big Ten Freshman of the Year accolades.

Treloar had a team-best four points, with two in each game, in the sweep of Mercyhurst. In game one he had the primary assist on Gustaf Westlund’s third-period goal that broke a 1-1 tie and stood as the gamewinner. He also assisted on an empty net goal with 10 seconds left and was +3 in the game. In game two, Treloar put the Buckeyes up 2-0 late in the first with a power play goal and had the primary assist on Jake Wise’s second-period power play tally. The two two-point games give him 11 multi-point outings as a Buckeye and the two helpers in game one marked his first two-assist game since March 2021.

Dobeš and the Buckeyes were 10-for-10 on the penalty kill in the series, stopping five chances in each game.
