Marcus Johnson is in his first season on the Ohio State staff and is an assistant coach with the offensive line.

Johnson, who played for the University of Mississippi (2001-04) and was a second-team all-SEC offensive lineman and a senior co-captain, has nine seasons of coaching the offensive line in the collegiate setting. He came to Ohio State after two seasons as offensive line coach at Purdue University, and prior to that he spent three seasons at Missouri, including two as assistant head coach and run game coordinator.

His previous coaching positions were with Duke (2016-17) and Mississippi State (2018-19).

Johnson was a second-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft by Minnesota, and spent four seasons (2005-08) there, helping the Vikings to a division title and playoff berth in 2008. After spending the 2009 campaign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he closed his playing career with the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League.

Johnson graduated from Ole Miss in 2004 with a degree in criminal justice while minoring in sociology. He and his wife, Veullana, are the parents of London, Meraki and Violette.
