Pair of road matches up next against Kentucky, Wisconsin

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 4 Ohio State (4-0) completed its four-match homestand, all shutouts, to start the season with a 4-0 win over Northern Kentucky (0-3-1) in a Thursday matinee at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium (Att: 656).

The Buckeyes have not allowed a goal this season and have shut out their first four opponents of the year for the first time in program history.

Senior Isaiah Chisolm scored the opening goal of the game in the 16' after collecting his own rebound to beat Northern Kentucky's Caleb Pearson in the low right corner of the goal.

Chisolm added another score after a cross from Christian Baumgartner bounced before Pearson before Chisolm headed it in for a 2-0 lead. The assist was Baumgartner's first as a Buckeye and six in his career.

Nyle Waugh put the Buckeyes up 3-0 with his second of the season in the 40'. Aaron Hurge and Josué Youta assisted.

Chisolm then got the hat trick with a penalty kick score in the 46'. Chisolm was fouled in the box to draw the penalty. He then converted his third penalty kick of the season to put the Buckeyes up 4-0. He has scored seven times on the year and has 18 career goals.

Ohio State's last hat trick was by Danny Jensen Sept. 21, 2016 in a 4-1 home win over Valparaiso.
Cole Evans gave the Buckeyes a 5-0 lead with his first career goal in the 89' after a long pass from keeper Patrick McLaughlin, who recorded his first career assist on the play.

Freshman Jack Wayne made his first career start in the win.
The last time Ohio State had opened the season with three-consecutive shutouts was in 2010 when the Buckeyes defeated Charleston (1-0) and Buffalo (2-0) in the Wolstein Classic in Columbus before a 1-0 win over Binghampton (1-0) at the Penn State Challenge.
In 2022, the Buckeyes posted four-consecutive shutouts after opening the season with a draw (1-1) against South Carolina. Ohio State then posted victories over Cal Poly (3-0), at Bowling Green (1-0), Wright State (2-0) and Butler (2-2). Ohio State has not opened a season previously with four-consecutive shutouts.
Ohio State last opened a season 4-0 in 2010 with wins over Charleston (1-0), Buffalo (2-0) and then wins at the Penn State classic over Binghampton (1-0) and Bucknell (2-1).
Patrick McLaughlin got the start for the Buckeyes in goal. He improved to 10-2-2 in his 14th career start. The win was his fifth career shutout.
