- Has three siblings, brothers Logan and Riley, and sister Lauren
- Spends lots of time outdoors fishing and golfing with friends
- Chose to wear No. 27 at Ohio State because it was the first number he wore when he started playing hockey
- Has worked for his father’s company in the summer loading debris and doing clean outs for people who need help clearing out their projects
- On why he chose Ohio State: “Coming to Ohio State was a no-brainer. Being from Pittsburgh it is close to home and it is respected not only athletically but academically as well.”

Comes from a hockey family and started playing when he was 3 years old. Uncles John Mooney (Colorado College) and Tom Mooney (Notre Dame) played college hockey and introduced him to the game
- Great uncle Jack Butler payed for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1951-59 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012
