2015 (Senior Season): Placed fifth on floor exercise against Michigan, also competing on parallel bars (Feb. 28) … finished third on floor against Oklahoma and Iowa (Feb. 1) … earned a third-place finish on floor against Illinois (Jan. 24) … tied for fourth on floor with a score of 14.550 and competed on high bar at the Windy City Invitational (Jan. 17).
2014 (Junior Season): Competed on floor with a 15.100 at the NCAA team finals (April 11) … earned a second-place finish with a 15.400 on floor at the NCAA qualifier (April 10) … represented Ohio State at the Big Ten championships (March 28-29) … earned a score of 15.150 on floor against Temple and Oklahoma (March 15) … tied for third on floor with a 14.900 against Cal-Berkley (Feb. 14) … finished second on floor at Illinois with a 14.850 (Jan. 26).
2013 (Sophomore Season): Competed in every meet of the season … scored a career-high and program record-tying 15.75 on floor exercise to lead the team at the Metroplex Challenge … posted a career-high 14.90 on vault to finish fourth against Michigan Feb. 16 … scored a 15.50 on floor exercise against Illinois (Feb. 23) to place second … notched a 15.70 on floor exercise, a 14.90 on vault and a 14.45 on parallel bars to place first, second and third, respectively, against UIC March 9 … placed fifth on floor exercise (15.00) at Oklahoma March 23 … tied for eighth on floor exercise (15.05) at the Big Ten championships April 5 to advance to the Big Ten event finals April 6 where he placed second with a 15.475 … placed fifth on floor exercise at the NCAA qualifier (April 19) with a 15.00, tied for sixth on the event at the NCAA team finals (April 20) with a 15.20 and finished seventh overall with a 14.65 at the NCAA event finals (April 21) … earned second career All-America honor … named Second Team All-Big Ten … earned Academic All-Big Ten and Ohio State Scholar-Athlete honors.
2012 (Freshman Season): Competed in every meet of the season for the Buckeyes … tied for second place on floor exercise (15.30) in his first collegiate meet at the Windy City Invitational (Jan. 14) … followed that performance with a fifth-place showing on floor (15.000) against Oklahoma Jan. 21 and a fifth-place tie on vault (14.600) … tied for first on floor with a 14.90 against Michigan and SUNY Brockport (Feb. 18) … also tied for fourth on vault with a 14.70 … set a career high on parallel bars Feb. 25 against Penn State with a 14.250 … set a career-high 14.800 on vault against Illinois (March 2) … placed third on floor (15.25) and fifth on vault (14.55) against Stanford March 9 … set a career-high 15.40 on floor against Minnesota and Oklahoma (March 24), placing second … qualified for the floor exercise event finals at the Big Ten championships (April 7), finishing fifth with a 15.10 … qualified for the event finals at the NCAA championships (April 21), tying for sixth with a 15.05 to earn first career All-American honors.
Prior to Ohio State: Trained and competed for USA Flairs under coach Paris Bland … two-time state champion in 2009 and 2011 … claimed state titles in all-around, pommel horse, rings, vault and high bar events in 2011.
Personal: Son of Mike Steiner and Sheila Ainlay … has one sibling, Katie … plans to become an airline pilot after completion of undergraduate studies … hobbies including spending time with friends and driving … lists greatest sports thrill as becoming an All-American at Ohio State in 2012.
