Ohio State Wins 2023 Debut Against Michigan

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized (artistic) swimming team opened its 2023 season on a high note, earning a 106-65.5 victory over Michigan at the OSU Zero Waste Invitational Saturday afternoon at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The Buckeyes competed in both routine and technical competition in the season opener.

Ohio State started the day with technical competition, with Buckeyes competing in the A and B figures. Overall, all 18 Buckeyes competed in the technical portion of the meet. Ruby Remati finished the highest in the A Figures, scoring an 82.5481. Leading the way in the B Figures was Trinity Patton with a score of 75.5374.

The 2022 national solo champion Nikki Dzurko finished right where she left off last season, earning a first-place finish in the solo competition with an 83.9167. Rose Homoelle followed in second place with a score of 79.0563.

Buckeyes Emily Armstrong and Remati, who are paired up for the second straight season, took first in the duet competition with a final score of 83.2582. Coming in second for Ohio State was Patton and Victoria Carlson with a score of 72.4583.

Seniors Dzurko and Paige Hopper and freshman Emma Spott teamed up to finish first for Ohio State in trio, scoring an 83.2250. In second place, and earning a 81.6250, was Armstrong, Remati and Hannah Heffernan.

The Buckeyes continue the season at home, hosting the Jessica Beck Memorial Competition on Feb. 4 at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Routines are set to begin at 2 p.m.
