COLUMBUS, Ohio – Eight home games will highlight Ohio State’s 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule, head coach Nick Myers announced today. In addition to hosting five non-conference opponents, the Buckeyes welcome three Big Ten foes to Ohio Stadium this spring.
“We’re thrilled to announce our 2022 schedule and be back to playing a full slate of non-conference games,” said Myers. “We have some great early season opponents that will prepare us well as we tackle another extremely competitive set of Big Ten games. We’re also looking forward to competing in front of our fans again, who I think can be very excited about watching the Buckeyes in 2022.”
Before the regular season begins, Ohio State will host Lafayette (Jan. 22) and Marquette (Jan. 29) inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center for preseason scrimmages that are free of charge for the public. Both the Leopards and Golden Eagles are coached by Buckeye lacrosse alums: Pat Myers at Lafayette and Andrew Stimmel at Marquette.
The 2022 season officially kicks off on Feb. 5 when Ohio State tangles with Detroit inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. A week later, the Buckeyes take on in-state foe Cleveland State, also at home. It will the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams since Cleveland State started its Division I program in 2017.
Ohio State’s first road test of the season takes it to Chapel Hill, N.C. on Feb. 19 to face North Carolina, which is coming off an appearance in the Final Four last spring. The following week, Ohio State heads south for a neutral site contest versus Harvard at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples, Fla. on Feb. 26.
The month of March opens with a game at perennial Ivy League contender Cornell on March 5. From there, the Buckeyes have a three-game homestand over 10 days before beginning conference play. They welcome in Notre Dame on March 12, Denver on March 20 and Dartmouth on March 22.
Ohio State’s Big Ten slate starts with a trip to Rutgers on March 27 and then continues with back to back home games against Penn State (April 2) and Johns Hopkins (April 9). The regular season then concludes with a game at Maryland on April 16 and at home vs. Michigan on April 23.
This year’s Big Ten Tournament semifinals and finals will take place at Maryland Stadium in College Park, Md. Like last year, a round of quarterfinal games will be played at campus sites.
Game times will be added to the schedule once they are finalized.
