COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 5 Ohio State men’s gymnastics team travels to No. 7 Penn State for a Big Ten dual meet on Saturday. The meet is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on B1G+ (login required).
- OSU ranks in the top six in the nation as a team in four events (based on a three-score average) – first on pommel horse (66.667), fourth on floor (68.067), fourth on rings (67.300), fifth on vault (71.317) and sixth on parallel bars (66.100).
- The Buckeyes are the only team in the country to score higher than 67.450 on pommel horse this season, posting a 67.900 in the Feb. 12 win against the Wolverines.
- Ohio State had last week off from competition, with Kazuki Hayashi being the exception as he competed at the Winter Cup in Frisco, Texas. At the Winter Cup, Hayashi posted a career-high 14.600 on vault and tied his career-high 13.350 on high bar. He finished in the top 10 overall on the vault, with a two-score total of 28.350.
- This season, the Buckeyes are 4-1 outside of invitational competition where they finished second of seven teams to open the season at the Windy City Invite. Ohio State’s wins include No. 4 Michigan, No. 10 Army, No. 12 William & Mary and New York Alliance.
- Penn State is 1-2 in dual meets this season, opening the year with a win against No. 10 Army before falling to No. 6 Illinois and No. 3 Nebraska. The Nittany Lions finished first as a team at both the West Point Open and the Navy Open.
