COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s longest-running non-conference rivalry will be renewed on Saturday afternoon as the 11th-ranked Buckeyes host No. 10 Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. in Ohio Stadium. The game will be carried live on BTN with Dean Linke and former Buckeye All-American Greg Bice on the call.

Briefly on the Buckeyes
- Ohio State checks in this week at No. 11 in the USILA Coaches Poll with a 4-1 record.
- The Buckeyes have utilized on the nation’s top statistical offenses over the first five games of the season. Ohio State’s 16.60 goals per game average is fourth-best in the nation.
- Ohio State’s three special teams units – faceoffs, extra man and man down – each rank in the top four nationally.
- The faceoff unit is No. 1, winning 72.3 percent of the draws taken so far this year. Individually, Justin Inacio is second in the nation at .70.6 percent, having won 90 of the 126 faceoffs he’s taken. On Thursday, he was added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
- The Buckeyes’ extra man offense is also first nationally, converting on 70.6 percent of its opportunities.
- And the man-down defense ranks No. 4, killing 81.2 percent of opponents’ extra man chances.
- Four players have double figure points this season, led by Jack Myers (14-17-31).
- Myers and Colby Smith share the team lead in goals (14) while Jason Knox (11) and Jackson Reid (10) each have reached double figures.
- Goalie Caton Johnson has started all five games thus far and has back-to-back games of 10 or more saves.
The Ohio State/Note Dame Series
- The Ohio State-Notre Dame game is the most played in Buckeye program history. Saturday will be the 60th meeting between the two teams.
- Six of the last 11 meetings have been decided by one goal, including a 11-10 overtime win for Ohio State in South Bend, Ind. during the 2019 season that was clinched on a Colby Smith goal.
- Three of the last five games between the Buckeyes and Irish at Ohio Stadium have been decided by one goal.
- In 2020, Ohio State defeated the Irish 13-11 and went 6-for-6 on extra man opportunities.
- The Buckeyes and Irish have played every year since 1981, with one exception: 2021 due to the Big Ten-only schedule.
- From 1996 through 2009, Ohio State and Notre Dame were members of the Great Western Lacrosse League together.
Home Sweet Home
- Ohio State owns a 35-15 record at home since the start of the 2015 season.
- Ohio State is 22-15 inside Ohio Stadium over the past eight seasons.
- The Buckeyes have won 24 of their last 31 home games since the start of the 2017 season.
National TV Exposure
- There will be plenty of Buckeye lacrosse on television as the 2022 season progresses.
- Saturday is the second of seven nationally-televised games for the Buckeyes this season after ESPN and BTN have announced their respective schedules.
- In addition to Saturday’s non-conference tilt vs. Notre Dame, Ohio State’s entire Big Ten slate will be shown on BTN or ESPNU, including home games vs. Penn State (April 1, ESPNU), Johns Hopkins (April 9, ESPNU) and Michigan (April 23, BTN) with road contests at Rutgers (March 27, ESPNU) and Maryland (April 16, BTN).

- Five of Ohio State’s eight remaining opponents are ranked in this week’s USILA Coaches Poll.
- Two of them (Rutgers and Maryland) are in the top five and the other three (Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins and Michigan) each come to Ohio Stadium over the next six weeks.
A Total Team Effort
- While Jack Myers leads the team in scoring (14-17-31), a total of 23 players have at least one point on the year and nine players have six or more.
- In last week’s game, nine different players accounted for Ohio State’s 11 goals.
- Amongst the Buckeyes’ newcomers, four players are among the team’s top eight scorers: transfer Jason Knox (11-1-12), freshman Ari Allen (4-2-6), freshman James Gurr (5-1-6) and freshman Ed Shean (3-3-6).
