
Buckeyes Win Big Ten Opener at Iowa

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (8-3, 1-0 Big Ten) opened Big Ten play with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23) victory over Iowa (11-4, 0-1 Big Ten) on Friday. It is the Buckeyes' first victory in their Big Ten opener since 2022, when they also defeated the Hawkeyes.

- The Buckeyes went on an early 6-0 run, which included two kills each from Kalli Jioshvili-Ravva and Naomy Govou, to take a 7-4 lead over the Hawkeyes.
- At the media timeout, Ohio State had a 15-12 lead, but the Hawkeyes went on a 3-0 run coming out of the timeout to tie things up, 15-15.
- The score was tied five more times in the first set, but the Hawkeyes came away with the 25-22 win.
- The score was knotted five times early in set two before the Buckeyes took a two-point lead, 7-5, after kills from Govou and Hannah Jones.
- The Buckeyes maintained a two-point lead, 15-13, going into the media timeout.
- Tied again, 18-18, a kill from Govou and an ace from Bella Humphrey put Ohio State back ahead by two, 20-18.
- After the score was once again tied, 22-22, the Buckeyes scored three straight points on two Hawkeye errors and a kill from Bailey Nakanelua to win set two, 25-22.

- Once again behind by three, 16-13, the Buckeyes went on a 4-0 run, which included kills from Alia Schoonover and Govou, to take the lead, 17-16.
- The score was tied four more times. Knotted at 23 points apiece, kill from Jioshvili-Ravva and Schoonover iced the 25-23 set victory, and 3-1 match win, for the Buckeyes.
- Govou led the Buckeyes with a career-high 24 kills. She also added 10 digs to notch her second double-double of the season.
- Jioshvili-Ravva and Jones each added 12 kills for the Buckeyes.
- Emily Avshalomov and Mia Stahler led the team in digs with 15 each.
- Nakanelua had a team-high 37 assists and Mia Tuman added 17 assists.
