Buckeyes Open Campaign at ITA All-American Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 2026-27 season starts for the Ohio State women's tennis team at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C. The tournament features prequalifying and qualifying rounds and a main draw in singles and qualifying rounds and a main draw in doubles.

Prequalifying is set for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19-20, with qualifying Monday and Tuesday Sept. 21-22. The main draw will run Wednesday through Sunday, Sept. 23-27.

Four Buckeyes are in the singles main draw – Luciana Perry, Teah Chavez, Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev and Nao Nishino. Audrey Spencer is in the qualifying draw and Alessia Cau is in the prequalifying draw, with Flora Johnson an alternate.

In doubles, the duos of Perry and Johnson and Cisse-Ignatiev and Spencer are in the main draw. Cau and Nishino are in qualifying (and a main draw alternate).

The ITA All-American Championships are the first chance for players to earn a berth into this fall's NCAA singles and doubles championships. Ten singles players – eight main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists – and five doubles teams (four main draw semifinalists and the consolation champion – will secure their spots. At last year's event, both Perry and Chavez advanced to the singles semifinals to earn a bid to the NCAA tournament.

In singles, Luciana Perry is ranked third, with Teah Chavez fourth. Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev is No. 37, Nao Nishino is No. 39 and Audrey Spencer is No. 115.
In doubles, Johnson and Perry are ranked third. Cisse-Ignatiev and Spencer are No. 28, Alessia Cau and Nishino are No. 44 and Chavez and Hephzibah Oluwadare are No. 69.
Ohio State is the only program in the nation to have both a singles player (with two - Perry and Chavez) and a doubles team (Perry/Johnson) in the top four and the Buckeyes and NC State are the only programs with both a singles player and a doubles team in the top 10. The Buckeyes are also the only program with two players in the Top 10 singles rankings. Perry is the only player in the nation with a top three ranking in singles and doubles.
