COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (0-1) opened the season and the Jim Stone Challenge with a four-set loss (21-25, 21-25, 26-24, 22-25) to Bowling Green (1-0) on Friday evening inside the Covelli Center.

Set 1

The Buckeyes and Falcons traded points early and a kill from Naomy Govou and two from Alia Schoonover tied the score, 4-4.
Bowling Green took a 9-6 lead over the Buckeyes but kills from Kalli Jioshvili-Ravva, Aneta Valentová and Hannah Jones soon tied the score, 10-10.
Trailing by two, 16-14, back-to-back kills from Schoonover tied the score, 16-16.
The Falcons got back ahead by two, 18-16, and kills from Jioshvili-Ravva and Govou tied things up once again, 18-18.
A block by Valentová and Mia Tuman put the Buckeyes in the lead, 20-19.
The Falcons, however, went on to take set one, 25-21.

Set 2

Jioshvili-Ravva had three early kills in the second set to put the Buckeyes within one point of the lead, 4-3.
Kills from Govou and Jones kept the Buckeyes within one, 9-8.
The Falcons went on a 6-0 run to take a 15-8 lead over Ohio State.
Back-to-back attack errors from the Falcons and an ace from Jioshvili-Ravva put Ohio State within four points of Bowling Green, 16-12.
Two kills from Govou kept the Buckeyes within four points of the lead, 19-15.
A kill from Jones cut the Falcon lead to three, 21-18.
Trailing by five, 24-19, a bad set from the Falcons and a monster kill from Schoonover put the Buckeyes back within three points of the lead, 24-21. The Falcons, however, took the second set, 25-21.

Set 3

Set three once again began as a back-and-forth affair between the Buckeyes and the Falcons. A huge kill from Valentová put the Buckeyes within one, 8-7, and an ace from Jones tied the score, 8-8.
A kill from Govou and an error on the Falcons put Ohio State in the lead, 12-11.
The score was tied at points eight through 13 before three unanswered Buckeye points on kills from Jones (two) and Jioshvili-Ravva gave the home squad a 16-13 advantage.
Ohio State used a second 3-0 run amidst a pair of Bowling Green timeouts to stretch its lead to 19-14 on a block from Valentová and Tuman.
The Falcons responded with a 4-0 run to trim the Buckeyes' lead to 21-19, prompting an Ohio State timeout.
Bowling Green's late push tied the set at 24, but Ohio State sealed the 26-24 set win with kills from Jones and Jioshvili-Ravva.

Set 4

A 7-0 run fueled by a trio of service aces from Schoonover gave the Buckeyes an early 8-1 lead in the fourth set.
Ohio State used four unanswered points to stretch its advantage to 13-4 on a kill from Tuman.
The Buckeyes led by a 15-9 margin at the media timeout after Schoonover won a joust at the net.
The Falcons battled back with a 5-0 run to get within one at 15-14 and then tied the set at 16.
The teams traded points until a 3-0 Falcons run gave Bowling Green a 21-19 lead.
Ohio State got as close as one at 23-22 on a block from Na'vea Gauthier but fell by a 25-22 margin in the set.

Buckeyes by the Numbers

The Buckeyes had six players make their debut in the Scarlet & Gray on Friday night.
Tuman earned her first double-double of the season with 38 assists and tied her career-high 20 digs, leading the team in both categories.
Jones and Jioshvili-Ravva led a balanced offense with 13 kills apiece. Jones added a career-high 13 digs to earn a double-double.
Emily Avshalomov joined Tuman with 10 or more digs as she wrapped up the match with 11 digs.
