The Buckeyes remain in Columbus, take on Northern Kentucky Sept. 3

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (3-0) took on visiting Memphis (2-1) Friday in the final match of Wolstein Week and came away with a 2-0 victory at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium (Att: 1,266). The win was the third shutout for the Buckeyes in as many outings this season.

Ohio State's first scoring chance in the second half came in the 56' after Memphis was called for a foul in the box against Josué Youta of the Buckeyes, which resulted in a penalty kick. Kynu Samuels of Memphis was issued a red card on the play. Youta then hit the crossbar on the PK to keep the match scoreless.
The Tigers then played the remainder of the match down a man.
Noah Kasin, the Memphis keeper, was then called for a foul against Ohio State's Christian Baumgartner, resulting on another PK for the Buckeyes. This time, Isaiah Chisolm converted for his fourth goal of the season and a 1-0 lead in the 69'.

Aaron Hurge then made it 2-0 Buckeyes with his first of the year off a long pass from Youta in the 81'.

The last time Ohio State opened the season with three-consecutive shutouts was in 2010 when the Buckeyes defeated Charleston (1-0) and Buffalo (2-0) in the Wolstein Classic in Columbus before a 1-0 win over Binghampton (1-0) at the Penn State Challenge.
The last time Ohio State won three-consecutive matches by shutout was in 2024 when the Buckeyes downed Butler (1-0) and Rutgers (3-0) around a road win at Penn State (5-0).
Patrick McLaughlin got the start for the Buckeyes in goal. He improved to 9-2-2 in his 13th career start. The win was his fourth career shutout.
Memphis managed just five shots in the match with the Buckeyes taking 27.
