Four Buckeyes Named USILA Academic All-Americans

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four Ohio State men's lacrosse players were named United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-Americans as announced by the organization.Â

Defender Cullen Brown, defender Jake Cohen, defender Jonny Cool and defender Griffin Liedel were all named USILA Academic All-Americans.Â

Ohio State's four Scholar All-Americans this year tie for the most in a single season for the program. The team also had four honorees in 2025, 2022 and 2020.Â

Over the two-year stretch, the Buckeyes have had the one of the best defense in the country, allowing just 8.32 goals per game. Additionally, Ohio State led the country with just 7.36 goals allowed per game, holding opponents to single digits scoring in 12 of 14 games in 2026. It was the lowest GAA mark by any Division I team since the 2016 season (discounting the shortened and canceled 2020 season).Â

To qualify for the award, the student-athlete must be nominated by his coach, be a senior in academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale) and have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. Nominees must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player. Each individual was additionally evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Scholar AA committee.Â
