COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 3 Ohio State (31-4) hosts No. 14 Illinois (24-7) at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the 2026 NCAA Tournament Super Regionals at the Auer Tennis Complex/Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
Admission and parking are free for all men's tennis matches.
- Last weekend, the Buckeyes swept Buffalo and California in the NCAA first and second rounds en route to securing their 75th NCAA tournament win in program history.
- Ohio State owns a 75-25 record in the NCAA tournament and has secured runner-up finishes in 2009, 2018 and most recently in 2023.
- At home, the Buckeyes are 18-1 and have swept a total of 15 opponents, outscoring them 82-9.
- Jack Anthrop and Nikita Filin led Ohio State over the weekend with three total wins. Anthrop secured his 117th career singles win, placing him in sole possession of eighth overall in program history. Filin continued his excellence in singles, winning his 18th-consecutive singles match.
- Bryce Nakashima and Anthrop teamed up for the first time since March and earned their third win of the season as a pair in the match against Buffalo.
- The Buckeyes are facing off against the Fighting Illini for the third time this season. In the regular season, Ohio State topped Illinois, 5-2, at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. The Buckeyes then went on to defeat the Fighting Illini, 4-3, in the 2026 Big Ten Tournament. This is the second-consecutive year that the two teams have matched up against each other three times in the same season.
- Ohio State has won 13-consecutive matches against Illinois heading into the contest Friday.
- The winner Friday advances to play the winner of TCU and Stanford May 14 in the NCAA quarterfinals at the Dan McGill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia.
- The Buckeyes Women's Tennis team is also hosting the Super Regional this Saturday at 1 p.m against Vanderbilt.
- In the last ITA singles rankings until May 20 five Buckeyes landed on the leaderboard. Aidan Kim is the highest Buckeye at No. 11 followed by Preston Stearns at No. 31, Anthrop at No. 32, Alex Okonkwo at No. 47 and Filin at No. 95.
- Three Ohio State pairs are ranked in the latest ITA doubles rankings with Brandon Carpico and Filin leading the way at No. 8, Alexander Bernard and Okonkwo at No. 44 and Kim and Nakashima at No. 45.
