Buckeyes have been atop the final league standings since 2006
COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 2 Ohio State (27-3, 12-1 Big Ten) secured its 20th-consecuitve Big Ten regular-season title Sunday with a 4-0 victory at Nebraska.
The streak is one of the most dominant in both Big Ten and NCAA history.
Ty Tucker, head coach of the Buckeyes, owns the most regular-season titles in a Big Ten Conference men's sport all-time.
"I want to thank the 100-plus former and current student athletes and their families who have been an integral part of the achievement," Tucker said. "It is especially rewarding to share this with Coach (Justin) Kronauge, who has been around for all 20 championships, and Coach (Hunter) Callahan, who has been a part of nine. Thank you Coach Kro and Coach Callahan. We would not be here without you."
Tucker said there are many who have played a part in the program's success.
"Ohio State Athletics is the premier department in the country," Tucker said. "Thank you for letting us live a dream on the courts. I would also like to send out a special thank you to the morning crew. Your staunch support of our program is unrivaled and we are grateful. I am looking forward to celebrating this milestone with all of you in the near future but first we must turn our attention to the battle in Ojai and a potential matchup with the Wolverines. Go Bucks!"
Carly Grimshaw Rusnov, Ohio State executive associate athletics director and the sport administrator for the men's tennis program, said all Buckeyes who made this possible should relish in the remarkable achievement.
"Congratulations to Coach Tucker, the staff and the student-athletes both past and present on this monumental accomplishment," Grimshaw Rusnov, said. "For two decades this program has set the standard for excellence. This milestone is a testament to the unwavering dedication, passion and pursuit of greatness that defines Buckeye men's tennis. We are so proud to share this moment with our men's tennis program and its incredible supporters. We look forward to creating additional memories in the future."
The Buckeyes will next compete Thursday at the 2026 Big Ten Tournament in Ojai, California, in the quarterfinals against either No. 10 seed Nebraska or No. 7 Michigan. The Buckeyes are the No. 2 seed in the event.
