Buckeyes host rival Michigan and Michigan State next weekend
COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 1 Ohio State swept Penn State 4-0 in its first Big Ten match of the season Saturday at the Sarni Tennis Center in University Park, Pennsylvania.
After dropping Thursday's match against No. 10 Baylor, the Buckeyes dominated the Nittany Lions. They didn't drop a set in singles or doubles action on the day.
Ohio State took the doubles point in under 30 minutes and carried its momentum into singles with all six Buckeyes taking first set victories.
Ohio State improves to 13-2 on the season, Nikita Filin led the Buckeyes with two victories on the day with a win in singles and doubles.
Ohio State returns home next weekend, hosting rival Michigan on Friday at 6 p.m. and Michigan State on Sunday at noon in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
Doubles

On court two, Aidan Kim and Bryce Nakashima made quick work, winning 6-0 in 15 minutes

Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin were shortly after Kim and Nakashima with a 6-2 set win, clinching the doubles point for the Buckeyes.

Alexander Bernard and Alex Okonkwo were leading 5-1 and had a setpoint to win it before the doubles point was clinched.
Singles

Ohio State continued its dominance in singles, taking all six of the first sets.

Preston Stearns was the first to strike for the Buckeyes with a swift 6-2, 6-1 win on court two.

Nikita Filin earned his second win of the day on court five, taking a 6-1, 6-3 match victory to put Ohio State up 3-0.

Shortly after, Alexander Bernard clinched it for the Buckeyes with a pair of 6-3 set wins.

Aidan Kim, Jack Anthrop and Loren Byers were all up a set when the match was clinched, Kim was serving up 5-4 in the second set.
