
Buckeyes Dominate Penn State on the Road, Win 94-62

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Behind a career night from John Mobley Jr., Ohio State defeated Penn State 94–62 Wednesday night at the Bryce Jordan Center to close out the road portion of the regular season.
With the win, Ohio State improves to 19–11 overall and 11–8 in Big Ten play, while Penn State falls to 15–15 overall and 5–14 in the conference.
Mobley Jr. led all scorers with a career-high 28 points and knocked down a career-best eight three-pointers, finishing 8-of-9 from beyond the arc and 9-of-12 from the field. His eight threes marked the ninth time this season he has made five or more in a game.
Bruce Thornton added 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting while also recording four rebounds and five assists. Devin Royal delivered a strong all-around performance with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Amare Bynum scored 14 points and Christoph Tilly added 10 as five Buckeyes finished in double figures.
Ohio State shot 67 percent from the field and 16-of-23 from three-point range, with seven different Buckeyes connecting from deep and the team recorded 22 assists on 34 made baskets.
The Buckeyes set the tone early as Bynum scored the first basket and Thornton followed with a three-pointer to give Ohio State a quick 5–0 lead. After Penn State briefly took an 8–7 advantage, Ohio State responded with a decisive 23–2 run midway through the first half, fueled by hot perimeter shooting and strong defense.
Ohio State led by as many as 28 points in the first half and took a 45–21 lead into the break after shooting over 60 percent from the field.
The Buckeyes continued their offensive rhythm in the second half as Mobley Jr. connected on two more threes to reach his career-high eight for the night while extending the lead to nearly 40.
Penn State was led by Ivan Juric and Freddie Dilione V with 15 points each, while Dominick Stewart added 11.
Thornton finished with 18 points and now needs just 12 more to pass Dennis Hopson for the most points in Ohio State program history.

The Buckeyes will close out the regular season at home on Saturday by hosting Indiana. It will also be Senior Night at the Schottenstein Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on FOX.
