No. 4 Buckeyes Post Second B1G Victory of the Weekend

Ohio State now 14-3 and 6-1 in conference
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 4 ranked Ohio State women's tennis team went undefeated this weekend beating Maryland 4-0 Sunday in the Auer Tennis Complex after winning against Rutgers by the same score Friday. Ohio State is now 14-3 overall and 6-1 in the Big Ten. Maryland is 12-4 and 4-3 in league play.
Against the Terrapins, the Buckeyes took the lead early on posting doubles victories from Luciana Perry and Flora Johnson and Audrey Spencer and Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev. Cisse-Ignatiev, Nao Nishino and Spencer clinched victories in their singles matches to earn the win.
How it Happened
- No. 84 ranked Luciana Perry and Flora Johnson swept the duo of Ema Kovacevic and Magdalena Baniak on court two.
- On court three, Audrey Spencer and Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev won 6-3 against Oliwia Orlinska and Aida Eissa to earn the doubles point.
- Court one's matchup of No. 14 Teah Chavez and Hephzibah Oluwadare vs. Tamari Gagoshidze and Diya Challa was left unfinished with the Buckeyes leading 5-2.
- Cisse-Ignatiev beat Magdalena Baniak 6-3, 6-2 on court three to earn the first singles point for Ohio State.
- On court four, No. 86 ranked Nao Nishino defeated Diya Challa in straight sets 7-5, 6-0.
- With a 7-3 second set tiebreaker win on court five, No. 100 ranked Spencer downed Lucia Donnelly 6-2, 7-6 (3) to earn the Buckeye victory.
- Chavez and Perry were both leading in the third set when the match was clinched. Alessia Cau was also ahead 6-3, 6-5.
The Schedule Ahead
- Ohio State will play its next five matches on the road, starting with three next week, as the Buckeyes will travel to face Michigan Wednesday, Nebraska Friday and Iowa Sunday. After playing at Purdue April 11 and Indiana April 12, the Buckeyes return home to close their regular season against Oregon April 17 and Washington April 19.
