COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State returns home to start the closing stretch of Big Ten games and will host one of the conference’s hottest teams in the Wisconsin Badgers on Tuesday night. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. and the game will televised on FS1. Jason Benetti and Bill Raftery will call the action.
The game can also be heard on the Ohio State Radio Network from Learfield. Paul Keels and former Buckeye captain Ron Stokes are on the call.
- This will be the 177th all-time meeting and the Buckeyes officially lead the series 91-79.
- Ohio State leads 55-27 in Columbus but Wisconsin has won 10 of the 18 meetings inside the Schottenstein Center.
- Earlier this year, Wisconsin used a strong second half to pull away late for a 92–82 win on Jan. 31 in Madison. Amare Bynum led the Buckeyes with 18 points and seven rebounds. Bruce Thornton added 17 points, while Devin Royal also finished with 17 points and six rebounds Taison Chatman scored 14 points, making all four of his three-point attempts.
- The Buckeyes are coming off a hard-fought 70-66 setback against No. 15 Virginia on Saturday night in Nashville. Bruce Thornton had another great game, leading all scorers with 28 points. Freshman Amare Bynum stepped up and scored 15 points while grabbing a team-high six rebounds. The Buckeyes had an 11-point lead early and led for the majority of the game but Virginia took the lead with under five minutes to play and held on down the stretch.
- The Buckeyes were without second leading scorer John Mobley Jr. against Virginia as he missed the game with a hand injury. He will likely miss the game against Wisconsin as well.
- Thornton’s 28-point effort against Virginia moved him closer to 2,000 career points and also moved him closer to two legends on the OSU all-time scoring list. Thornton has 1,978 career points and is just 12 points behind tying William Buford (2009-12) and Jerry Lucas (1960-62) for third place.
- Taison Chatman made his first collegiate start in place of Mobley on Saturday night and finished with four points. He has scored over 50 points in the last six games.
- The Buckeyes will be honoring former All-American Evan Turner on Tuesday night as part of Trading Card Night at the Schottenstein Center. Turner, or The Villain, was the 2010 national player of the year and led the Buckeyes to the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles.
- Wisconsin has won back-to-back games against Top 10 opponents and has topped 90 points and three of its last four games. The Badgers are ninth in the country in making over 11 three-pointers per game. Nick Boyd and John Blackwell are averaging 20.6 and 18.9 points per game to lead the Badger offensive attack.
