How it Happened
- Minnesota was first to score Saturday, taking its first lead of the weekend at 12:09 on the power play.
- The Gopher lead lasted only two and a half minutes as Ohio State tied the game at 14:37 with a goal from Grace McCoshen. Kaia Malachino skated the puck into the Minnesota zone and put a shot on Gopher goaltender Hannah Clark. Malachino's shot was saved, but the puck was loose behind Clark and McCoshen poked it over the goal line.
- Maxine Cimoroni scored at 15:54 in the second period off a play that started with MacLeod in the Buckeyes' defensive zone. MacLeod sent the puck up the ice to Jocelyn Amos, who connected with Cimoroni at the blue line. Cimoroni skated with the puck into the Minnesota zone and beat a Gopher defender and skated across the top of the crease to send the puck past the outstretched skate of Clark.
- The Gophers outshot the Buckeyes, 8-5, in the second period but were denied by MacLeod on every attempt.
- The teams left the ice for the second intermission with Ohio State leading, 2-1. Ohio State challenged for a missed penalty at 18:86 in the second period and the challenge was successful as the Gophers were assigned a major penalty for contact to the head and a game misconduct.
- The teams were called back to play the final 1:04 of the period again and Ohio State capitalized on the power play with a goal from Sloane Matthews with 11 seconds on the clock to send the teams back to the locker room with Ohio State leading by two.
- Both teams were scoreless in the third period as MacLeod made nine saves.
- McCoshen's game-tying goal was the first goal of her career. The goal is also just her second point of her career. McCoshen, who is a defender for the Buckeyes, has played the last two series at center. She won three faceoffs in the win.
- Cimoroni and Malachino recorded two points for the second consecutive game and finish the series tied with a team-high four points.
- Swiderski and Peschel both blocked three shots in the win.
