
No. 2 Buckeyes Host Home Opener Against No. 1 Wisconsin This Weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 Ohio State women's hockey team hosts its 2026-27 home-opener this weekend against No. 1 Wisconsin at the OSU Ice Rink. The Buckeyes (4-0-0, 2-0-0 WCHA) and Badgers (4-0-0, 2-0-0 WCHA) meet at 6 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday in the rematch of the 2026 national title game.
Both games of the series will be streamed on B1G+ (subscription required) and Saturday's game will be broadcast on FOX9+. Live stats are available through OhioStateBuckeyes.com.

Ohio State is back on the road to play No. 3 Minnesota next week. The Buckeyes and Gophers face off at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.

- Ohio State hosts its Alumni Weekend this week at the OSU Ice Rink and fans are encouraged to wear scarlet for both games against the Badgers.
- Parking for Friday's game is free in the surface lots surrounding the OSU Ice Rink. Because of Saturday's football game at 4:15 against Maryland, fans attending the women's hockey game will be directed to park in the football day-of-game lots and will need to pay the posted football day-of-game rates. - Friday there will be a schedule magnet giveaway and Saturday is a scarlet t-shirt giveaway.

- The Buckeyes are 4-0-0 on the year after sweeping St. Thomas to start the WCHA conference schedule last weekend. Ohio State earned a pair of 5-2 wins over the Tommies. Joy Dunne and Hilda Svensson led the team with six points and three goals in the series and goaltenders Taylor Kressin and Rowan Houweling each earned a win.
- Mira Jungåker was named the WCHA Defender of the Week for her play against St. Thomas. The junior recorded a team-high five assists in the series, included a career-high three helpers in game two.
- Svensson leads the Buckeyes with eight points on the year. She and Dunne have recorded a team-best four goals. Svensson is the team's lone power play scorer this season, tallying both of the team's goals on the player advantage so far.
- Ohio State has played and started all three goaltenders – freshman Rowan Houweling, junior Genny Klein and sophomore Taylor Kressin – this year. Houweling is 2-0-0 on the year with a .906 save percentage. Klein leads the unit with a .952 save percentage on 21 shots faced this year.
- Twenty-eight Buckeyes earned PWHL training camp invites ahead of the 2026-27 season. Of the contingent of Buckeyes, twenty-three are already signed for the 2026-27 season. Camp is set to begin Nov. 18 and the regular season opens Dec. 5.
- Ohio State continues to hold at second in the national polls entering the third weekend of the season. The Buckeyes have been ranked in the top two in both the USCHO and USA Hockey College Polls for the last 19 polls and have not dropped out of the top three since 2024. Ohio State has four first-place votes in both polls.
- The Buckeyes are 340-307-66 all-time in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and head coach Nadine Muzerall is 172-65-20 in conference games. Ohio State finished second in the league in 2025-26, finishing just two points shy of first-place Wisconsin.
- Muzerall is in her 11th season at the helm with a career record of 264-86-22. She is assisted by first-year associate head coach Jack Johnson and assistant coaches Kelsey Cline (fifth season) and Logan Davis (fourth season). Muzerall is tied for second among active Division I women's hockey head coaches with a .736 career win percentage.
- This year marks the fourth straight season Ohio State and Wisconsin meet for the first time in the season series as the top two ranked teams in the country.
- Ohio State won its second WCHA Final Faceoff title with a 2-1 win over Wisconsin last season.
- The Buckeyes and Badgers have faced off in the last four national championship games. Ohio State has one win in the title game matchups.
- The teams will meet for the 128th and 129th times this weekend. The Buckeyes have 30 wins in the series with 20 of them earned during Nadine Muzerall's tenure at Ohio State.
