COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State field hockey team won its regular season home finale Friday against Michigan State, 4-0. The Buckeyes (5-10, 1-6 B1G) scored a season-high four goals and limited the Spartans (5-11, 0-8 B1G) to to just one shot on goal on the day to come away with the Big Ten victory at Buckeye Varsity Field.

How it Happened

Ohio State was tested in the first quarter as Michigan State put up two shots in the opening frame. The lone shot on goal was on a Spartan penalty corner, but Katie Fichtner recorded the defensive save to keep Michigan State off the board.
The Buckeyes took the lead in the second quarter with two goals on three shots on goal in the frame.
Sienna Golden put the Buckeyes on the board at 18:04 in the game. She stopped a Michigan State attempt to clear the circle and put the team's first shot on goal into the cage for the 1-0 lead.
Ohio State doubled its advantage at 26:28 on the penalty corner. Phillippa Jowett sent a pass across the top of the circle to Philippa Schipper, who sent a shot that deflected into the Spartan goal.
Lea DeWan scored the team's third goal of the game, and her third of the season. She had a shot saved before she buried the rebound in the Spartan cage.
The Buckeyes scored their fourth and final goal in the fourth quarter. Emily Barker found the back of the net by knocking in a pass from Anne Marie Krebs right in front of the cage.
Ohio State didnt allow a shot on goal after Fichtner's defensive save. The team limited Michigan State to just four shots in the game.
