COLUMBUS, Ohio – Members of the Ohio State men’s and women’s lacrosse programs got a head start on their spring semester with a professional development trip to New York City. The trip, the first of its kind for the Buckeye Lacrosse programs, was an experience offered to student-athletes with demonstrated interest in finance and wealth management.
The group of 13 student-athletes embarked on an eventful two-day trip that featured visits to Allen & Co., Bank of America, Barclays, KKR, Morgan Stanley, UBS and Wells Fargo.
“Seeing our student-athletes engage with professionals and navigate the financial capital of the world was incredible.,” Ohio State men’s lacrosse general manager Mo Lavallee said. “Trips like this broaden their perspective and reinforce the possibilities that come with a degree from The Ohio State University. We could not be more thankful for our alumni, speakers and companies who took time out of their schedule to share insight and experiences with our men and women.”
During the office visits, the student-athletes met with alumni and friends of Buckeye Lacrosse, including Molly Wood (‘18), Ryan Laffey (‘04), Collis Boyce (’02), Greg Langermeier (’25), Jack Myers (’23) and Matt Lasko.
“The trip was an incredible learning experience,” senior finance major and long stick midfielder Jonny Cool said. “Meeting alumni that were in my shoes not long ago and hearing their journeys and advice was invaluable. I will use what I learned to help me accomplish my career goals. Additionally, I will leverage and deepen the relationships I made throughout my entire career. I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of this trip.”
