Buckeyes Dominate Pitt on Senior Day

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10 Ohio State men's swimming and diving team and No. 12 women's team welcomed Pitt Saturday, Jan. 31, to McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion for the Senior Day. The men (3-1) defeated the Panthers, 193.5-106.5, and the women (2-2) claimed the win over No. 25 Pitt, 195-105.
The Buckeyes honored their nine graduating seniors prior to the start of the meet; Alex Axon, Jessica Eden, Mason Edmund, Evan Fentress, Lena Hentschel, Tristan Jankovics, Lucy Malys, Krista Marlin and Tomas Navikonis.

Men's Meet Notes
- The 200 medley relay team of Joseph Roth, Mason Francis, Evan Fentress and Jack Schuster placed first with a time of 1:26.23.
- Isaac Fleig secured the first-place finish in the 1000 free, turning in a time of 9:01.47. Mason Edmund finished in second place with a time of 9:03.33.
- In the 200 free, Tomas Navikonis placed second with a time of 1:35.07. Jordi Vilchez touched the wall at 1:35.08 to finish in third place.
- The Buckeyes finished 2-3-4 in the 100 back, with Cornelius Jahn touching at 47.15, Roth touching at 47.18 and Krys Gorski touching at 47.71.
- Ahmed Ismail finished in second place with a time of 53.32 in the 100 breast. Francis finished in third with a time of 53.88 and Tristian Jankovics placed fourth with a time of 53.96.
- Edmund came in first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:44.37. Vilchez came in third with a time of 1:49.61.
- Matt Klinge won the 50 free with an NCAA standard time of 19.30.
- Ernest Braitenbach finished in first on the 3-meter with an NCAA Zones qualify score of 377.48. Tyler Read finished with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 365.63 for second place.
- In the 100 free, Ismail touched the wall at 43.41, finishing in third place.
- In the 200 back, Gorski (1:44.08), Jahn (1:44.37) and Roth (1:45.28) finished first, second and third, respectively.
- Jankovics was the first-place finisher in the 200 breast with a time of 1:56.93. Sam Vaisburg came in third with a time of 2:01.01.
- Vilchez finished in first in the 500 free, touching the wall at 4:23.33. Edmund finished in second with a time of 4:25.28 and Alex Axon in third place with a time of 4:25.82.
- In the 100 fly, Klinge secured another first-place finish and a new program record with a time of 44.63. The previous record of 44.74 was set in 2022 by Alex Quach. Klinge's time is also an NCAA standard time.
- Hamish Patel came in first on the 1-meter with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 357.60. Dom Roberto (330.15) finished in second and Braitenbach (326.40) finished in third, both recording NCAA Zones qualifying scores.
- In the 200 IM, Jankovics finished in first with a time of 1:45.71. TJ Frost finished in second place with a time of 1:48.00.
- In the 400 free relay, the team of Navikonis, Klinge, Ismail and Rasmus Hanson ended the meet with a second-place finish, turning in a time of 2:51.98
- The 200 medley relay finished first, with the team of KK LeBlanc, Maria Ramos, Carrie Furbee and Rachel Bockrath touching at 1:35.96, which is an automatic NCAA qualifying time.
- In the 1000 free, Mila Nikanorov turned in a time of 9:30.45 to finish in first place. Emma Finlin finished in second place with a time of 9:37.09.
- In the 200 free, Delia Lloyd turned in a time of 1:46.13 and Nikanorov turned in a time of 1:46.89, to place first and second, respectively.
- Sienna Rodgers finished fourth in the 100 back, with a time of 54.24.
- Ramos won the 100 breast with an NCAA standard time of 58.92. Danika Varda swam a time of 1:02.00, finishing in second.
- In the 200 fly, Jessica Eden swam a time of 1:56.99, securing the first-place finish and an NCAA standard time. Lucy Malys came in third with a time of 1:58.99.
- The Buckeyes went 1-2-3 in the 50 free. Bockrath came in first with an NCAA standard time of 22.21. Little swam a 22.55 for second place and Furbee swam a 22.57 for third.
- On the 3-meter, Lena Hentschel came in first with a score of 331.05. Michelle Mazzara came in second with a score of 320.10. Both are NCAA Zones qualifying scores.
- In the 100 free, Bockrath secured first place with a time of 47.73. Little finished in second place with a time of 48.45. Both are NCAA standard times.
- LeBlanc came in third in the 200 back with a time of 1:55.70.
- Paige Delma swam a time of 2:13.39 for the first-place finish in the 200 breast. Varda came in second with a time of 2:13.75.
- Nikanorov picked up another first-place finish and an NCAA standard time in the 500 free, touching at 4:39.30. Malys (4:46.64) and Sienna Angove (4:48.63) finished in second and third, respectively.
- In the 100 fly, Furbee placed third with a time of 53.87.
- On the 1-meter, Mia Prusiecki (289.28), Brooklyn Petit (282.83) and Mazzara (277.95) finished first, second and third, respectively. All dives are NCAA Zones qualify scores.
- Delma finished in first place in the 200 IM, touching the wall at 1:58.14. Ramos finished in third with a time of 2:01.41.
- The 400 free relay team of Lloyd, Little, Angove and Bockrath swam an NCAA provisional time of 3:13.76 to end the meet with a first-place finish.
- To close out the regular season, the Buckeyes will host the Ohio State Winter Invitational Feb. 13-15 at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
