
Carnell Tate a First-Team Academic All-American

Was a force on the playing field, as well, with second-team All-American honors
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior Carnell Tate, one of the best receivers in the country this past season with multiple second-team All-America honors, has been named a first-team 2025 Division I Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Tate, from Chicago, was one of 25 Division I first-team Academic All-Americans and one of five from the Big Ten Conference. He carries an overall 3.50 grade point average and is majoring in sport industry.
Despite missing three games this season because of injury, Tate was a force on the playing field with 51 receptions for 875 yards, a 17.2 yards-per reception average with nine touchdowns. He had four 100-yard receiving games topped by a career-high 183 yards off nine catches against Minnesota. He averaged 32.5 yards per touchdown reception with five such scores over 40 yards.
Four major organizations – the American Football Coaches Association, The Sporting News, Associated Press and On3 – named Tate a second-team All-American this year.
Tate, who played in 39 games, started 26 and has declared for the NFL Draft, finishes his Ohio State career with 121 receptions for 1,872 yards and 14 touchdowns. He ranks 17th in both receptions and yards at Ohio State and 10th in touchdowns.
Tate is the 33rd Ohio State football player to earn first-team Academic All-America honors.
All-District Honors
RB C.J. Donaldson, TE Max Klare, WR Brandon Inniss, SAF Jaylen McClain, P Joe McGuire, LB Payton Pierce and DB Lorenzo Styles joined Tate as CSC Academic All-District honorees this year.
